Even though Google seeks to lower its operating expenses, there is a need to make up for any organizational losses.
Due to the pressure the company is under, it has decided to consolidate the Waze and Maps product development, teams. Google has combined the teams working on its Maps and Waze products in an effort to cut operating expenses.
The teams who work on the Waze and Maps apps will be combined, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The 500 Waze employees will be transferred to the company's Geo organization as a result of the new arrangement. The group is tasked with maintaining the Maps, Street View, and Earth.
On December 9th, the modifications will become effective. Neha Parikh, Waze's current CEO, will resign from her post as a result of the change.
The search engine behemoth said in an interview with WSJ that it has bigger intentions for its Waze software. To put it simply, it wants the app to function as a stand-alone service for users.
On Thursday, Dec. 8, Google made it clear that it would not be laying off workers merely to restructure its internal processes.
Even if several other digital juggernauts are now doing the same thing, it's shocking to read that Google won't resort to firing some employees this time.
It is anticipated that Google will continue to reduce the overlap in mapmaking for its Maps offering.
According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the corporation needs to be more productive while using "fewer resources." He anticipates that the company will soon be able to produce 20% more.
Drivers won't be necessary to connect via USB cable in order to set up their cellphones with the release of the revised Waze software.
"The first automaker to deliver Waze straight on the multimedia screen of the car without turning on the smartphone is Renault. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with an intuitive, immersive, and connected driving experience, we are confident that many Waze users will enjoy this new feature when they drive the Nouvel Austral and Renault Megane E-Tech electric "In a statement, Renault Director of Digital Customer Jerome Seror said.
