Google Pixel 8 leak reveals codenames, a new Tensor chip, & more RAM

We're still in awe of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro — two of our favorite Android phones of the year. However, rumors regarding their follow-ups due at the end of next year have already begun to circulate. According to this new report about the accused Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, Google is doubling down on the performance for its next flagship lineup, providing a faster processor and more RAM. While WinFuture cannot confirm whether the two leaked devices are the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, many of their specifications are consistent with a typical Android flagship. The two Google phones, originally named Husky and Shiba, have 12GB of RAM, placing them at the top of the heap. These screen resolutions also reflect a slightly different display aspect ratio for shorter displays when compared to the existing Pixel 7 models. Zuma, a new Tensor chip, will be used in both phones. The Tensor G3 could be a customized version of the coming-up Samsung Exynos 2300 processor with a dose of Google's machine learning and AI prowess thrown in for good measure. Some of these details back up another leak about the Tensor G3 that we discovered in September. [caption id="attachment_61023" align="aligncenter" width="711"]Google Pixel 8 leak Image: Forbes[/caption] The Tensor G3 may, however, reuse the G5300 5G modem from the Tensor G2, which, in our experience, was not a huge upgrade over the unimpressive modem on the first Tensor chip. WinFuture believes that both phones are traditional glass sandwiches rather than foldable.  If you're hoping to learn more about the long-rumored Pixel Fold, you'll have to wait a little longer. In any case, none of these rumors and leaks are set in stone, esp since the actual launch is still months away, so take everything with a grain of salt. However, in typical Google fashion, we should get an early look at the forthcoming Pixel flagships at Google I/O 2023.
