Google Plans To Update Chrome On Android Tablets

A number of upgrades for Chrome have recently been released as part of Google's ongoing effort to optimize first-party apps for large-screen Android smartphones and the Pixel Tablet. The most significant recent modification is the addition of a grid view to go along with Chrome for Android tablets' long-standing tab strip. Instead of only using the desktop layout, a recognizable tab button that displays the number of open pages may be found to the right of the Omnibox. By doing so, you can better preview the contents of a page rather than relying solely on the page names that are displayed horizontally. This opens a simple tab grid. You can instruct Chrome to always look for and load a site's desktop version. Currently, you must manually turn this switch on for each visit from the overflow menu, but it is now accessible via Settings > Site settings > Desktop site (at the very bottom). Last but not least, Tab Groups for Android tablets are "coming soon," according to Google. It will be fascinating to see whether the tab strip uses the same color-coded grouping strategy as the desktop because this works hand in hand with the tab grid. Although some of these capabilities are currently available today, Google claims the rest will be included in the "next release of Chrome on Android." The team is "constantly researching new methods to make using Chrome on your Android tablet easier and more fun" in the meanwhile.
