The Google Play system update from July has been operating on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices since their introduction, but some users are now being prompted to install a new version only to have that download fail.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are on a July 1, 2022, Google Play system upgrade and are on the most recent October 5, 2022, Android security patch level. Because it has been older than 90 days, the Security Hub asks you to "Update this device." A large yellow exclamation point urges users to "Check for updates." (The warning will be changed if the card is removed.)
There were no additional updates for the first few days following the debut. On Monday, there was nothing, but Tuesday morning, something appeared.
A screen saying "Google Play system update available" displayed, and it was only 7.6 kB in size: "Google's most recent security upgrade. Update right away to maintain safety and enhance device stability.
When you tap "Download & install," a new screen quickly appears before returning to the previous one with the message "Updates are momentarily unavailable. The red "Try again later" warning. Repetition of the procedure and/or restarting your Pixel 7 have no impact on the result.
On both a Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, this update appears and issues are reported, but not all of the devices examined by 9To5 Google are seeing this new Play System version.
