Google Search Results Will No Longer Be Paginated

Since the search engine's initial release in 1998, the recognizable page picker on Google has been a standard function. But when Google introduces a new unlimited scrolling function to its desktop search results to view more results, it is also disappearing.
Long before endless scrolling was introduced to smartphones, there was a page selector at the bottom of online pages. That is completely gone now; if you scroll all the way to the bottom of your Google search results, you'll soon see a loading indicator and what was meant to be the next page will appear below. As a result, you no longer need to search through numerous pages of results if you can't find what you're searching for on the first few results pages and can simply scroll down until you do.
There was a nostalgic appeal to seeing the "Goooooooooogle" page selector at the bottom and clicking one of the o letters to go to the page you're searching for, even if limitless scrolling makes a lot more sense from a UX perspective. However, given that the alternative involved painstakingly loading pages of results one at a time, this modification is probably for the better.
In the end, the change hasn't gone live yet, but it shouldn't take long for everyone to experience it.
