All tech enthusiasts must have had a busy and exciting day on Wednesday as two major tech giants unveiled new goods and services. While Google unveiled a number of search enhancements and security updates, Amazon revealed a tonne of new merchandise.
Google officials gave a signal at an event dubbed Search On in San Jose, California, indicating that the search engine will follow Silicon Valley's newest trends and continue the company's march away from text inquiries and results in favor of a greater emphasis on visuals and "immersive" content.
For instance, when consumers search for vacation spots, they will see what Google refers to as "visual forward" search results, which include a map, photos from travel websites that link to guides, and structured tiles of images presented similarly to Stories on Snapchat or Instagram.
Users will be able to conduct simultaneous image and text searches on Google, pointing their cameras at objects like shirts or chairs and then modifying their inquiries with text. Google senior vice president Prabhakar Raghavan stated in a blog post that "your camera is your next keyboard."
"We’ve continued to create more natural and intuitive ways to find information,” Mr. Raghavan wrote about the changes.
Moving on, Google Maps is about to receive a major update that the firm thinks will encourage you to keep using it to organize your excursions. By exposing user evaluations as you pan across an area, a feature called Neighborhood Feel might help you get a "vibe" of a new neighborhood if you're traveling there for the first time.
“To determine the vibe of a neighborhood, we combine AI with local knowledge from Google Maps users who add more than 20 million contributions to the map each day,” writes Google in its announcement blog.
The global rollout of this feature for both Android and iOS will start in the upcoming months, however you may already see some of its traces. When you tap the Explore button while on Google Maps, the most recent Local Guide evaluations will appear.
