Google is working to make additional devices compatible with its Meet videoconferencing software and to improve Zoom compatibility on Meet-specific hardware.
The company revealed on Wednesday that its enterprise version of Meet, which now runs on ChromeOS devices, will be coming to Android-powered smartphones.
In theory, you could join or control meetings by simply tapping on a tablet. Today's topic concerns those gadgets as well as similar ones created for Zoom and other video conferencing providers.
Returning to Poly and Logitech For meetings, both companies presently use systems that resemble soundbars, cost thousands of dollars, and come with a variety of speakers, microphones, and cameras.
These systems are designed to make everyone appear and sound their best. Starting in 2023, users of those devices, notably the Poly Studio X line, Logitech Rally Bar, and Rally Bar Mini, will have the option of employing an Android-based brain that runs Google Meet.
Some of those devices could be used with Meet before, but presumably, the native experience will be superior.
The enterprise version of Google's message strategy isn't all that much simpler to understand, despite its reputation for being perplexing.
Things do appear that the business is attempting to make it simpler by moving Meet toward becoming more platform agnostic and by allowing the services of other businesses to run on Meet hardware.
