Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor Review: Simple but Effective

Govee may be most known for its selection of vibrant smart lights, but there are many other products available in the company's catalog besides LED strips and smart bulbs. In fact, one of its most recent offerings is the Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor, a tabletop instrument that gauges indoor temperature, humidity, and airborne particles. Although it's a cute little device that looks lovely on a desk or coffee table, it lacks several essential features that you'd want from an air quality monitor. The Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor, however, is a great alternative for consumers on a budget if you can get past a few drawbacks. Given that it can be easily customized and is managed by the same robust smartphone software as other Govee items, it's a fantastic option for households that already have other Govee products. The Govee model's setup is simple and quick, unlike some other air quality monitors. Since there is no requirement for calibration, you can start taking measurements as soon as you take the monitor out of the packaging, plug it in, and link it to your smartphone. The unit's display is large and colorful, and the brightness can be changed in the app. There is enough room for it to easily display the temperature, humidity, and particulate matter that is 2.5 microns or less (PM2.5). You can also change the PM2.5 levels for the current time by pressing the function button on top of the device. [caption id="attachment_75128" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor Image: govee[/caption] The Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor's color-coded air quality alarms that can flash across its display are one of its coolest features. A thin, typically green bar appears directly beneath the PM2.5 number. The color of that bar alters as your air quality does. It can change to green, blue, yellow, or red to provide you a fast visual clue about your surroundings depending on the air quality. Even if you have changed the display settings to show the time rather than PM2.5, the bar will still change color, giving you the opportunity to see four readings on the screen concurrently. That's a very remarkable accomplishment given that the monitor is so small it can fit in your hand. The functionality that has been crammed into the smartphone app is even more astounding. You may configure various warnings, modify brightness settings, quickly calibrate the device, and change the data from Fahrenheit to Celsius in addition to informative graphs displaying your air quality history. Although there isn't much of a tutorial to guide you through all these capabilities, most users ought to be able to pick up the fundamentals after spending a little time looking around its menus.

Some important measurements are absent

Despite the fact that the Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor does an excellent job of monitoring PM2.5, temperature, and humidity, it is missing a few essential capabilities that are present on more expensive gadgets. Carbon monoxide is the main omission. It would have been wonderful to at least have an alarm that sounds if carbon monoxide levels are worrisome as it is one of the major hazards to air quality in the average home. It is also unable to gauge carbon dioxide levels. You'll have to work around the monitor's wired connection when setting it up, which can make it difficult to find a suitable spot for it in your house. Though it also functioned well on an end table in my living room that was situated close to an electrical outlet, I ultimately chose a position on my desk. Some of these omissions and drawbacks, however, are made more tolerable when you consider the $60 price tag for the Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor. Ideal for consumers on a budget

With the Govee Smart Air Quality Monitor, you'll be losing out on a few measurements, but it's still a good overall product. It's pretty stunning due to its slender form, changeable display, and capacity to simultaneously display three metrics. The user-friendly smartphone app, which enables you to further modify its operation or view a history of your air quality, will also be helpful to you. It could be advisable to boost your budget if you require something more durable, though. Only a small number of monitors in this price range, like Govee's monitor, are capable of measuring carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or other potentially harmful particles. However, Govee is a great option if you want something that can provide the essentials for you at a fair price (and is simple to use).
