The creator of Halo, 343 Industries, revealed on October 18 that it will broaden its 2018 cooperation with Limbitless Solutions, a charity that produces free personalized prostheses for kids who have lost limbs. Along with its current prosthetic partnerships, a Master Chief and the Arbiter arm, 343 will collaborate with Limbitless to produce two new Halo-themed sleeves: a matte green Master Chief sleeve from Halo Infinite and a replica of the character Kat-silver B320 and a blue prosthetic arm. “The Kat sleeve in particular represents a special connection between the Halo universe and the Limbitless mission, as Kat was one of the first major characters in-universe to use a prosthetic limb,” 343 writes in its announcement blog. “Kat is also representative of the Halo universe’s ability to provide examples of courage and tenacity across many different life experiences, and to allow fans of Halo a personal connection to the narrative regardless of their own circumstances.” After 343 gives Limbitless the necessary reference files, the nonprofit creates and decorates custom Halo prosthetics, distributes them free of charge to recipients (or what the company refers to as its "bionic kids," as 343 notes in its blog), and then teaches them how to use the tools using tools like educational video games. Halo Developers Make Master Chief Prosthetics for Limbless Kids “This approach to training allows Limbitless’ bionic kids to enjoy learning how to use their new device and helps guarantee that their personal-made bionic limb and sleeve function in a manner tailored specifically to them,” 343 writes. The faithful and functional sleeves also, importantly, make sure the kids look sick as hell. Along with this exciting relationship growth, all fans of the franchise can anticipate the free winter update for Halo Infinite, which is set to launch on November 8. It will include a number of highly-desired features, including two new maps, network co-op, and creation mode for Forge's open beta, according to a video from October 18. Let's rub our hands together in anticipation, all of our happy hands.
