Here Is How To Charge Your Mac Quickly?

Although Apple has long supported fast charging for iPhones, it wasn't until late 2021 that fast charging became available for MacBooks. You must have the correct model and power adapter in order to quickly charge your MacBook.

Which MacBook models support quick charging?

If your MacBook has a MagSafe 3 charging port, that is the simplest way to determine whether it supports fast charging (not to be confused with MagSafe on the iPhone). The majority of MacBook models from 2021 and 2022 use this connector, particularly the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air with M2. Fast charging is not supported by the 13-inch MacBook Pro (M2 processor, introduced in 2022) since it lacks a MagSafe 3 port. Additionally lacking quick charging is the 2020 M1 MacBook Air model. Charge Your Mac Older MacBooks had MagSafe as well, but only those made after 2021 support fast charging, such as the 2012 Retina MacBook Pro. By clicking the Apple logo in the top-right corner of your screen and choosing the "About This Mac" option, you can find out exactly which Mac you have. According to Apple, MacBooks with rapid charging capabilities can charge to 50% of their capacity in just 30 minutes. Your MacBook will charge more slowly when the charge percentage approaches 100%.

Some Models Require an Upgraded Power Adapter

Charge Your Mac Although rapid charging is supported by the aforementioned models, not all of them can do it right out of the box. Only the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro with 10-core CPU or M1 Max variants) and the 16-inch MacBook Pro (all models) come with the required power adapters in the box to support rapid charging. The 67w USB-C power adapter that comes with the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro 8-core CPU must be upgraded to Apple's 96w USB-C power adapter in order to enable rapid charging (using the same USB-C to MagSafe adapter in the box). The 2022-released MacBook Air M2 comes with a 30w (M2 with 8-core GPU) or 35w (M2 with 10-core GPU) USB-C power adapter that cannot fast charge the laptop. To quickly charge your MagSafe MacBook Air, you must update to Apple's 67w USB-C power supply. With most MacBook models, you may also utilize third-party chargers that offer adequate power. The M2 MacBook Air may be quickly charged through Thunderbolt by some accessories, including Apple's Pro Display XDR. See Apple's suggestions if you want further details.

Can USB-C Fast Charge Be Used?

Only the bundled USB-C to MagSafe cable supports fast charging for the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) models. If the USB-C cable is rated for power delivery, charging for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and M2 MacBook Air models is possible through USB-C.
