Here’s the Best Order for Booking Trips

When booking budget trips, people often book flights first. The reason is that airfares are usually the most expensive aspect of travel. Thus, people typically buy flight tickets before they book their car rental and hotel. But, this order of booking might be a bit costly to customers. So, the best order one can follow when booking trips is to start with the aspect whose prices fluctuate the most and then plan the rest of the trip around that. And that order is - booking the car rental first, then airline tickets, and finally the hotel.

Planning the car rental

If travelers know the airport location where they will land, booking the car rental before the flight is wise. The reason is that car rental prices fluctuate tremendously based on the day of the week, time of the year, type of cars available, and company demand. In addition, during the holiday season, the costs rise exponentially. Therefore, it is wise to lock in the lowest rate quickly if one has a few months of notice and some flexibility around their traveling days.  car rental Furthermore, it is best to keep the travel dates flexible and search for the lowest-cost combination of days for the car rental. And then, one can purchase the airfare to match this itinerary. Besides, doing so might feel like the airfare costs more, but one will still save on car rental costs. In addition, people should look for different rental agencies and combinations of days before they book anything to ensure the cost-effectiveness of their plan.  And although sources like Nerd Wallet (an American personal finance company) state that people can save money by booking last minute, it can be risky. Hence, the best option people should go for is reserving a car now, selecting the option that enables them to lock in their rate, and then paying in person. After that, they can regularly check on their rental price. And if it gets cheaper closer to their travel date, they cancel and rebook.  Lastly, people should consider car rental discounts available through membership clubs like Costco, AAA (American Automobile Association), or USAA (United Services Automobile Association). Besides, the savings are ample enough to justify paying the membership fee.

Booking the flight at the right time

The best timing to purchase an airplane ticket depends mainly on the season. For instance, people can get the cheapest summer airfares at an average of 42 days before the trip. In addition, flight tickets are the least expensive for spring and fall when bought 76 or 77 days in advance. And to get the best winter holiday deals on flights, people must book 110 days before their trip.  Booking the flight Moreover, people must avoid high-traffic days of the week. For instance, avoid booking air tickets on a Friday, the most expensive day of the week to fly. Also, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are often the cheapest days of the week for flights.  Additionally, it is best to explore prices for all nearby airports. Plus, people must consider adding a free or cheap stopover for their travel. The reason is that airfares with a layover are 20% cheaper than non-stop flights. However, travelers need to ensure their transfer of flights isn’t too tight.  Finally, set price alerts with sites like Google Flights, Scott’s Cheap Flights, and KAYAK Price Alerts.

Hotel booking

Generally, budget-friendly hotels are a good deal compared to Airbnb nowadays. So, along with booking a car rental and flight, people can save bucks when booking the hotel for their trips. But, the destination of one’s travel factors a lot in this.  Hotel booking

Major cities

For big cities that attract a lot of travelers, it is wise to book a hotel last minute. The reason is that in large cities like New York and Chicago, hotel prices do not change much three to six months before one’s trip. Also, one can often get the best prices in the days leading up to their stay.  Also, Read- Google Assistant Assists You In Making Hotel Reservations

Smaller cities

It is best to book a hotel sooner rather than later if one’s destination is a city that attracts fewer travelers. The reason is that the prices are lowest around three months before check-in and most often soar afterward.
