'Higher priced' Twitter Blue subscription with no ads teased by Elon Musk

Elon Musk revealed on Sunday that Twitter intends to provide a more expensive Blue subscription with no adverts. Musk, who paid $44 billion to buy Twitter in October 2022, declined to reveal how much the new tier will cost or when it will go live. Currently, Twitter Blue costs $8 per month for web signups and $11 per month for iOS and Android users. The cost of web signups on an annual basis is $84. Twitter's response to the cut that Apple and Google take from purchases made through their app stores is to charge higher rates for iOS and Android. On the other side, there won't be any advertisements in the new, more expensive tier. The platform's adverts are "too frequent and too huge," according to Twitter CEO Musk, who promised that the San Francisco-based company will "take efforts to fix both in coming weeks." When Musk announced his intention to buy Twitter this spring, he predicted that by 2028, the company's ad revenue would account for only 45% of overall revenue, down from 90% in 2020. Instead, he stated that he intended to leverage subscriptions to increase revenue, and as a result, Twitter Blue underwent several changes around the end of the previous year. An undo-tweet option, bookmark folders for organizing bookmarked tweets, custom app icons so you can change how your Twitter icon appears on your phone, color themes to change the look of the app, and control over what appears on your navigation bar are currently available features for the premium Blue tier. Finally, compared to 4 minutes without a subscription, you may publish videos that are up to 60 minutes long via the web or 10 minutes long via iOS and Android.
