How to Half Swipe on Snapchat & Read unread messages without sending read receipts

Have you ever wished you could read a Snapchat message without letting the sender know? You can (also called a half slide) with a partial swipe. We'll demonstrate how to half-swipe in Snapchat on both iPhone and Android devices.

What on Snapchat Exactly Is Half Swiping?

The name "half swipe" refers to a screen swipe that is not entirely successful. You can read communications secretly using this method without the senders' knowledge. You might already be aware that when you read someone else's message on Snapchat, Snapchat alerts the sender. You can view the message by giving it a half-swipe, but neither Snapchat nor the sender will be aware of it. As a result, Snapchat won't transmit a read receipt because technically speaking, you aren't opening the message. Tips for Snapchat's Half Slide

In order to avoid alerting the sender that you have seen their message, you must do a half swipe or half slide on Snapchat correctly.
  • Start the Snapchat app on your iPhone or Android phone first if you want to perform a half slide. Click the "Chat" tab located on the bottom bar of the program.
  • The conversation you want to read a message from can be found on the "Chat" screen. You'll accidentally start the discussion if you tap it.
  • Tap and hold the sender's Bitmoji or profile icon next to your chosen chat, then swipe to the right while holding down the swipe button.
  • By swiping to the right, you'll see your selected message being exposed. While reading the message, keep your fingertips firmly on the screen.

Your swipe may then be let go. Also, Read: Snapchat ‘Family Center’ enables parental controls features in India In the event that everything went smoothly, the label "New Chat" will still be shown next to your friend's name on the "Chat" screen. This shows that neither the sender nor you have formally acknowledged reading the letter.
