What Android Digital Wellbeing & iOS Screen Time does?

Although they operate slightly differently, Apple and Google's toolkits for minimising smartphone distraction and improving productivity fundamentally aim to help you develop better phone usage habits. If it isn't already pre-installed on their smartphone, Android users can download and instal the Digital Wellbeing app from the Play Store. The app offers options to alter your behaviour (which we'll discuss in a moment) and has features like Bedtime mode and lots of data to demonstrate how and when you use your phone. In contrast, Apple has integrated Screen Time inside the iPhone's native Settings app, where you can also discover a variety of other options including Focus Modes (which operate differently from Google's). Screen Time displays the average amount of time you spend using your device and provides a wealth of other useful information, such as the apps you use the most frequently or those that send the most notifications. How to use Android's Digital Wellbeing & iOS Screen Time?

Be prepared to spend some time getting acquainted to the tools offered, whether you're on iOS or Android, as changing your smartphone habits doesn't happen overnight. Both are intuitive and provide a tonne of information, but it's up to you to analyse that information and use it to your advantage. Both choices can show you when you're developing habits, such as how frequently you use a particular app. Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls on an Android device. From this same menu, you can turn on a shortcut so that it appears in your apps drawer and home screen. Go to Settings > Screen Time on iOS. Look at how frequently you get notifications from apps that frequently surface as you scan the data. Sometimes reducing your screen time is as simple as turning off notifications in a talkative app or altering their visibility and frequency. Both can place restrictions on the apps you have on your device. Want to spend as little time as possible on social media? Add a time restriction or forbid opening it during specific hours of the day. You may set limitations if you want to prevent your kids from playing a particular game before night because this works nicely on their gadgets as well.
