How To Print Anything Using Your Phone or Tablet, Without Laptop

They include application forms, test sheets, training manuals, wedding speeches, and more. To acquire your printouts, you don't need need a laptop or desktop computer on hand because your phone or tablet can work just as well. The method you follow will, in part, rely on the printer you're using; some printer manufacturers have created mobile apps that make it easier to complete; but, in this guide, we'll walk you through your options and the processes you must follow regardless of the phone or printer you use.

Printing from Android

If you want to print from an Android device, you should check the Play Store first to see if the maker of your preferred printer has released an Android app (you may well have installed it when you set up the printer). Sometimes there will be more than one available. For instance, Epson offers both iPrint and Smart Panel; which one you require will depend on the particular printer model you're using. These applications lie in between Android and your printer, taking care of everything for you, including locating the printer and ensuring that the proper data is sent to it. Instead of launching Google Documents or WhatsApp and printing from there, you'll typically go into these applications to print files stored on your Android device or in the cloud. If your printer is connected to the same wifi network, Android does feature basic wireless printer compatibility without the need for a manufacturer app. Open Settings and select Connected devices, Connection preferences, Printing, and then Default Print Service on Pixel devices (similar options will be available on other Android smartphones as well). You will see your printer listed if it supports Android in this mode (be sure it is turned on and connected to the internet). It's a useful option if your printer supports it, and most HP machines allow you to attach an Android device via a USB cord and print that way instead. It would be a good idea to seek for connected or wireless Android compatibility when purchasing a new printer because it would make printing much simpler. In terms of printing, it's important to note that not every program will allow you to do so; it all depends on the developer's implementation. When you hit the share button in some applications, a Print option may appear alongside the options to transmit files to contacts or beam them to another location via Nearby Sharing. Some apps, notably those used primarily for handling documents, will come with built-in printing features. For instance, with Google Documents for Android, you can open a document, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner, and select Share and export or Print. In the meantime, you can hit the three dots in the upper right corner of Google Chrome for Android to access Share and Print.

Printing from iOS or iPadOS

The official method for printing from an iPhone or iPad would be to utilize AirPrint, which is similar to AirPlay but is only for printing. If the printer you now own or intend to purchase supports AirPrint, your Apple mobile device should have no trouble locating it as long as it's linked to the same wifi network as your iPhone or iPad. You should be able to press the share button in your preferred app, select Print from the menu that appears, and use an AirPrint printer. On the following screen, you can specify the printout's scaling and whether it should be output in landscape or portrait orientation, as well as see a preview of how your printout will appear. Consider Apple Safari for the iPhone as an illustration: If a webpage is open on your screen and you need a physical copy printed, hit the share button (the arrow in the shape of a box, in the bottom centre), then select Print. Before selecting Print, choose the printer you want to use, the number of pages you want to include, the sizing and layout of the pages, as well as any other accessible choices. Even if your printer does not support AirPrint, all is not lost: Many printer manufacturers create iOS and iPadOS apps that you may use to connect to your preferred printer, much like on Android. You can choose locally stored documents or pictures when you open the Canon app on your Apple device, for instance.
