According to a recent post on
Platformer, whether you like it or not, Twitter aims to sell location data and phone numbers to advertisers after alienating them and losing money.
The moment is now to delete the data from your account. If you're worried, you're probably better off deleting that data even if Musk's platform never makes these modifications.
How to delete your Twitter phone number?
You can delete your phone number from Twitter by visiting the
phone settings page for your account. If, however, you receive login codes via SMS, you might not be able to scrub your number.

If so, before eliminating your phone number, switch to a different type of
two-factor authentication. Since SMS-based login codes aren't particularly safe to begin with, it makes sense to switch nonetheless.
Authentication apps assist you in avoiding disclosing your phone number to businesses that sell your data for profit in addition to making your data more secure.
- Go to Twitter's two-factor authentication page when you're ready to make the change and deselect Text message.
- To obtain login codes, you can switch to the authentication app and use programmes like 1Password, Google Authenticator, or Authy.
- You can also utilise a physical security key, like a YubiKey, to authenticate your Twitter logins.

How to delete your Twitter location data?
The practise of geotagging every tweet is terrible: You probably don't want everyone on the internet to be able to see where you are when you tweet because your location is revealed by your location tag.
There is even more incentive to cease providing Twitter with any location data now that the firm may sell it to advertising.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Location and disable location access for Twitter.
- On Android, there is a comparable settings page as well, however it differs significantly depending on your device.
- To deny Twitter access to your location, utilize the search function in the Android settings app to locate the location permissions page.
- Finally, you should also delete all location information associated with previous tweets. Go to Twitter's location settings page and choose Delete after selecting Remove all location data from your Tweets.
