Google Home offers the convenience of monitoring and controlling various smart home devices, including cameras and video doorbells. An added advantage is the easy method provided by the smartphone app to save videos recorded by these devices. However, there are a few limitations to be aware of. Differences between the Nest app and Google Home:

Both the Nest app and Google Home serve as effective means to control Nest products and access video feeds and event history. However, they have some distinctions:

  • Video Clip Length: The Nest app supports video clips up to two minutes and 30 seconds, while the length of video clips in Google Home depends on the camera or video doorbell settings.
  • Downloading Videos: The Nest app can only download videos that were created within the Nest app itself. In contrast, Google Home can download video clips registered in your video history.
  • Time-Lapse Feature: The Nest app and Google Home do not currently support creating time-lapse videos. If you wish to create a time-lapse, you will need to use the Nest website.

Therefore, depending on your specific needs and preferences, you can choose between the Nest app and Google Home for video clip downloads and accessing your smart home devices’ features.
