Sony is undertaking an ambitious drive to produce 2 million PlayStation VR2 headsets in 2023.
According to a person who knows the internal position of the company, the console maker intends to accelerate the manufacturing of the virtual-reality goggles and build a "sales" momentum" for the next-gen wearable.
In a report by Bloomberg on Monday, October 3, Sony has slated March 2023 to be the deadline for manufacturing VR2 headsets. The corporation wants to circumvent the ongoing economic crisis by hitting its goal number of units for the new product.
Overall, global tech corporations have been hampered by constant inflation, although Sony wishes to fight this challenge. It should be remembered that the Japanese business started the mass production of PlayStation VR2 headsets last month, the anonymous person added.

Additionally, the individual claimed that Sony might have some time to alter the manufacturing amount, which will be contingent on the sales momentum in 2023.
Sony could be looking at an alternative perspective of releasing its PSVR2 headset to compete with Meta's Oculus Quest 2 and other similar goods from Apple and HTC.
Previously, the video game giant developed PlayStation VR, which suits the PS4 gameplay. However, Sony failed to sell the units as it reportedly took eight months to make a million-dollar transaction.
On the other hand, IDC reported that the Oculus Quest 2 has already completed over 2.8 million shipments in Q1 of its debut.
As of writing, the business has not yet announced the price of the PlayStation VR2 goggles. Sony keeps silent regarding the actual launch date of PSVR2.
For Sony to succeed in selling the mixed-reality headsets, it will require efficient marketing machinery to get through that. Branding for the PS5 platform will be a difference maker for the corporation.
