India Contributes $500,000 to the UN to Fight Terrorists' Emerging Technology

According to an AP report on Saturday, India would contribute $500,000 to the UN's efforts to fight international terrorism as new and developing technology used by terrorist organizations presents difficulties for governments around the world. Jaishankar, India's Minister of External Affairs, said that the cash will support the UN Trust Fund and strengthen the organization's fight against terrorism while speaking at a special meeting of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee in New Delhi. According to AP, this conference is the first of its type to be held outside of the UN's New York headquarters and is focused on addressing the problems that terrorist organizations in the age of new technology pose. In his keynote address, he asserted that terrorist and militant groups have become adept at using the internet and social media platforms to spread propaganda, indoctrination, and conspiracy theories aimed at unstable societies. Additionally, Jaishankar highlighted the growing risk presented by terrorist and criminal organizations' use of drones, calling it a challenge for security forces around the world. Jaishankar continued, "In Africa, terrorist organizations have utilized drones to track the activities of security forces and even UN peacekeepers, leaving them open to terrorist assaults." India Contributes $500,000 to the UN to Fight Terrorists' Emerging Technology The foreign secretary of the United Kingdom, James Cleverly, highlighted the dangers posed by unmanned aerial vehicles and asserted that these tools are being used to sow terror, murder, and destruction. The special summit got underway on Friday in Mumbai, India's financial and entertainment center, and the location of a deadly terrorist attack in 2008 that killed 140 Indian nationals and 26 people from 23 other countries. According to Jaishankar, India lamented the UN Security Council's inaction in several instances involving the prosecution of terrorists since it damaged its interests and overall legitimacy.
