According to rumors, Luxshare will have exclusive rights from Apple to produce the iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. In contrast to prior years, when Foxconn was the exclusive manufacturer of Apple’s premium “Pro” models, this is a significant shift.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that a variety of factors likely contributed to the decision to award Luxshare the exclusive deal. First, Luxshare has been making significant investments in its production capacities lately.

The business has expanded its personnel and developed new factories in China and India. Luxshare is now better equipped to satisfy Apple’s need for a high-quality iPhone as a result.

Second, by awarding Luxshare the exclusive deal, Apple is probably diversifying its supply chain. For a long time, Foxconn served as Apple’s primary assembly provider, but recent years have been difficult for the business.

For instance, a COVID-19 lockout in 2022 affected Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory, halting production of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple is limiting its reliance on one supplier by awarding Luxshare the sole deal.

Third, Apple probably decided to award Luxshare the exclusive contract in order to cut costs. Being a relatively new competitor in the iPhone assembly business, Luxshare is probably open to working with Apple to reduce costs. This might enable Apple to maintain the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s competitive price.

An important milestone for the iPhone assembly market is the choice to award Luxshare the exclusive contract. It demonstrates Apple’s willingness to broaden its supply network and lessen its reliance on a single vendor. Additionally, it shows that Luxshare is becoming a significant player in the iPhone assembly industry.
