Kuo: iPhone 16 Pro to feature bigger display and periscope lens

Image credit : AppleInsider The iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max are four new iPhone models that Apple is anticipated to release later this year. The screen sizes of all four models will remain the same, despite the redesigned designs. Meanwhile, it's said that only the 15 Pro Max model would include a periscope lens for improved optical zoom. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that in 2024, the standard iPhone 16 Pro will also acquire a periscope lens.

iPhone 16 Pro to feature periscope lens

Only the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to rumors about the iPhone 15 range, will have a periscope lens on its rear camera. The periscope lens is supported by a prism that reflects light at an angle of 90 degrees to many internal lenses and the camera sensor. This makes it possible for the lens to be much longer than a telephoto lens, leading to a significantly improved optical zoom. Apple may choose to use a 6x lens, as some analysts predict, or it may strive to match the 10x magnification of Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra. In any case, it appears to be practically "confirmed" that this technology will only be available in the 15 Pro Max model at this moment. The iPhone 16 Pro in 2024 will experience this instead of the iPhone 15 Pro. Kuo learned that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a somewhat bigger display from people acquainted with Apple's production chain. As a result, the business will be able to accommodate the periscope lens on both versions instead of just the Pro Max. The current iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max both have displays that are 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively. While the screen sizes of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are anticipated to remain the same, the new screen sizes for the iPhone 16 series are unknown.

Apple’s mixed reality headset

Kuo repeated rumors about Apple's mixed reality headset on the same subject. While the second version of the device has already been in development, the first generation is anticipated to be unveiled at WWDC 2023 next month. The analyst reiterated that the first headset is anticipated to cost $3,000 and that there will be high-end and low-end, more economical versions. According to Kuo, the second-generation versions will sell ten times as many units as the first-generation ones.
