The Xiaomi 13 Pro is as modern as an Android flagship phone can go, but its successor is now expected to outperform it, at least visually. The 11 Ultra, a device that paved the way for the top-of-the-line, Leica-branded 13 Ultra’s promise of mobile photography excellence, is expected to be revived (and improved upon) by the 14 Pro.
When Xiaomi replaced the 11 Ultra’s characteristic camera hump with a round housing designed to resemble vintage Leica lenses in the premium Android flagship’s successors, the 12S Ultra and recently released 13 Ultra, it may have disappointed some enthusiasts. But with the impending 14 Pro, their series’ design roots may make a comeback (allegedly due to public demand).

Director of Xiaomi Industrial Design Wei Xu reportedly stated that the 13 Pro’s replacement will be “more amazing” than the 11 Ultra in response to questions from fans about its appearance. According to that claim, the appearance of the previous super-flagship will be carried over to a new generation of smartphones.

However, there is no certainty that this implies the secondary display on the 11 Ultra will be limited to the 14 Pro, especially given how keen Xiaomi seems to be to get rid of it within a generation. However, it would be a promising sign that the OEM might replace the rectangular camera hump on the 13 Pro’s 2024 equivalent with a square one.
