Users are currently criticizing Mastodon for its lack of privacy, with many making serious accusations about a serious problem involving the platform's administrators' ability to access users' direct messages. Mastodon is "hell," according to the source, and what was supposed to be a Twitter substitute turned out to be a network that can purportedly ban users if they speak poorly of it. Cheong asserted that Mastodon moderators have the ability to read users' direct messages (DMs), even going so far as to access them in private chats and utilizing them as justification for banning users.

Even though the corporation claims to be an open-sourced platform, several of its current regulations pose a grave threat to the security of its users. The writer of the content even went so far as to claim that the website is the "inverse of Twitter," allowing users to make fun of various figures, including Elon Musk, without being banned.
