Xiaomi, a leading smart manufacturing company, recently hosted its annual event at the China National Convention Center, where they unveiled a wide range of new products encompassing smartphones, ecosystem items, and even cutting-edge robotics like the CyberDog 2.
This latest version of the bio-inspired quadruped has been enhanced to be more intelligent and lifelike, boasting softer features and more impressive capabilities to engage its owners. Weighing just 8.9kg, roughly equivalent to the size of a Doberman, this robotic companion is also 40% smaller than its predecessor, the earlier generation of CyberDog.
In comparison to Xiaomi’s initial robo-dog, the CyberDog 2 is notably smaller and lighter, weighing around 20 lbs and standing approximately 14 inches tall. The CyberDog 2 signifies a significant improvement over Xiaomi’s first CyberDog, which was priced at about $1,500.
The advanced robot is equipped with Xiaomi’s exclusive CyberGear Micro-actuator, enhancing its mobility and enabling complex maneuvers like consecutive backflips and the ability to recover from falls. It offers heightened control precision and remains stable even with repeated touches. The CyberDog 2 incorporates a fusion sensing and decision-making system, incorporating 19 sensors that cater to vision, touch, and hearing.

To achieve this remarkably lifelike version, Xiaomi meticulously integrated the bionic concept into every aspect of the CyberDog 2’s design. Particularly, the team drew inspiration from the anatomical structure of a Doberman’s head to execute a biomimetic design, complemented by precisely crafted leg proportions and further optimized body contours.
