‘Mermaids’ prompted into action to rescue scuba diver off California’s Catalina Island!

Pablo Avila abruptly passed out in the ocean while scuba diving near Catalina Island in California. When they discovered themselves surrounded by what appeared to be mermaids, his pals acted swiftly and swam over to save him. “We’re pulling him, and we’re getting a little winded and a little tired out and then out of nowhere, a bunch of mermaids show up,” Avila’s friend, Javier Claramunt, recalled to Fox 11. The gang swam over to Avila, helped him remove his gear, make it to land, and give him mouth-to-mouth before bringing him to the waiting paramedics. Elaina Thomas, a mermaid-in-training, claims that as the group was practicing the procedure for saving another mermaid, they noticed the man struggling and coughing foam. Elaina recognized this as an indication of an air embolism and used what she had learned to save him.
