In a Threads post, Zuckerberg made the news and stated that these new features would be released "in the next few weeks." He was upbeat about the app's future and emphasized its potential to develop into a successful long-term application. "A good week for Threads. The community here is on the trajectory I expect to build a vibrant long-term app. Lots of work ahead but excited about the team's pace of shipping. Search and web coming in the next few weeks," Zuckerberg stated. Is Meta's Thread Traffic Declining?

Meta released Threads in July, and it immediately ascended the charts and attracted a lot of attention. It profited from Twitter's difficulties—now known as X—and the increasing criticism of Elon Musk, the company's owner. But the initial enthusiasm for Threads has subsided over the past few weeks, resulting in lower user engagement and annoyance at its limited capability. As Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk engage in an online competition, Meta's Threads was created with the intention of competing with Twitter. X Blue had been rebranded, and Zuckerberg wanted to outperform it by building on Threads' initial success, which saw over 30 million sign-ups at launch. Despite this encouraging beginning, Threads has been seeing a weekly fall in user engagement. According to the reports, Meta may be having trouble keeping up its speed. The number of daily active Threads users has decreased by 82%, leaving about eight million users each day, according to the most recent data. In contrast to this reduction, Meta predicted that there would be close to 44 million users. On the day of Threads' introduction, users scrolled for an average of 19 minutes, but now they only navigate for 2.9 minutes daily.

Drop in In-App Usage

Additionally, there was a dramatic decline in in-app activity, with only 2.6 sessions on Threads being reported. This rise is supported by data from Similarweb, which shows that on July 7, Threads received approximately 49 million users. This number, however, has steadily decreased and has risen to over 11 million in just 22 days. These changes reflect the difficulties Threads is now having in keeping users interested and engaged. Although the company is committed to enhancing the app, as evidenced by Mark Zuckerberg's announcement of forthcoming features like the search function and web accessibility, the decline in user activity raises concerns about its long-term viability and capacity to contend in the crowded social media landscape.
