Motorola Edge 40: More quickly than expected, more leaks surface Future mid-range model to have MediaTek SoC

Photo Credit: Jansatta A mid-range alternative to the Edge 40 Pro, the Edge 40, is about to be released by Motorola. A recent leak implies that Motorola may have chosen an older MediaTek Dimensity processor instead of the new Dimensity 8020, which was slated to launch with the former. Building on prior leaks that showed the Edge 40's design and features, Roland Quandt provided renders of the device in its four release colors earlier this month. The Edge 40, the international variant of the Moto X40, was once thought to have been planned for launch alongside the Edge 40 Pro by Motorola. It is unknown when Motorola intends to release the Edge 40 after the latter was recently released. Photo Credit: Android Police But the Edge 40 has now shown on Geekbench, running Android 13, and sporting what seems to be a different processor than what earlier leaks had claimed. To recap, the Dimensity 8020, an unannounced chipset, is rumored to be inside the Edge 40. The gadget is listed on Geekbench as having an MT6891Z_Z/CZA, which is a codename for the earlier Dimensity 1100. Both of the Geekbench entries might be inaccurate, but information about the Dimensity 8020 has not yet been released. Among other mid-range components, Motorola is anticipated to add a 4,400 mAh battery and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage to the Edge 40's 8 GB of RAM, according to other reports.
