Many individuals who own smartphones choose to use protective cases to prevent scratches and keep them clean. However, smartphones also have unique tactile features that users want to experience. The Motorola Edge 40 follows this trend. Available in Eclipse Black, Nebula Green, and Viva Magenta, this midrange smartphone boasts a back cover made of vegan leather, offering a comfortable grip. Despite its large 6.55-inch size, it is lightweight at 171 grams and impressively slim, measuring 7.49 millimeters.

In addition to its attractive and grippable design, the Edge 40 has more to offer. One standout feature is its 144 Hz OLED screen, which supports HDR10+ and has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. Motorola claims the display can reach a brightness of 1200 nits, but in our tests, it even exceeded this level.

The brightness of the screen is impressive in everyday scenarios, reaching a four-digit range, making the Edge 40 highly usable outdoors. Furthermore, the phone is IP68 certified, ensuring protection against dust and the ability to survive brief submersion in water (up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter, according to specifications).

The Edge 40 is also suitable for daily use due to its system-on-a-chip (SoC) and storage configuration. It is equipped with 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 eight-core processor. This combination delivers reliable midrange performance, achieving approximately 687,000 points in AnTuTu v9 benchmark tests. It falls within the same performance category as the Google Pixel 7 and outperforms its predecessor, the Edge 30, which scored 553,000 points in AnTuTu v9.
