According to a Thursday announcement from Netflix and Walmart, their online Netflix merchandise store is now available in real locations. Over 2,400 Walmart sites will get the store, branded The Netflix Hub. You can purchase "music, apparel, toys, games, and seasonal stuff" at the in-store Netflix zones from popular Netflix series like Stranger Things, Squid Game, and even the impending Knives Out sequel. To make viewing Netflix at home feel like you're at the movies, Walmart and Netflix will also sell "concession kits" containing treats like popcorn and chocolates. A $19.99 Netflix gift card will also be available at Walmart; due to a recent price increase, this handily equates to one month of Netflix Premium. After losing members for the first time in more than a decade earlier this year, Netflix is still looking for ways to expand its company. The larger move into retail is just the most recent example. The business accelerated efforts on its less expensive ad tier, which launches in November, and its crackdown on password sharing will start in early 2023. The news also signals the most recent instance of Walmart working with a streaming service to better compete with Amazon Prime; in August, the retail behemoth revealed that Paramount Plus Essential access will be included for Walmart Plus members.
