Police in Louisiana's capital city have detained two 19-year-olds in connection with the January nightclub shooting that injured 12. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Nikeal Franklin and Jy'Shaun Jackson, both 19 years old, were detained on Friday, February 10. Jackson was charged with 12 charges of principle to attempted first-degree murder and Franklin was charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder. On January 22, at around 1.30 am, shooting was heard in Baton Rouge's Dior Bar & Lounge. There were 12 injured people, the most of them received superficial wounds. After being initially classified as serious, three of the victims' circumstances later became better.

'Investigation still underway'

Before the incident, the nightclub had advertised a celebration with a Southern University and Louisiana State University theme to honor the beginning of the two universities' new semesters. LSU and Southern University officials claim that their respective institutions had nothing to do with the activity that evening at the Baton Rouge club. According to the New York Post, the police did not disclose any other information than announcing the arrests in a social media post on Friday and stating that the investigation was still ongoing. 'Targeted attack'

According to arrest records, police think that a total of four males took part in the shooting at Dior Bar and Lounge. While the other two were aids, two of them were the actual shooters. Surveillance footage clearly depicts all four people entering the club, according to arrest paperwork. Before returning to the terrace and allegedly concealing firearms beyond the club's fence, two of the men leave. In what the authorities are describing as a "targeted strike," the two shooters are believed to have then started firing towards the stage, according to WAFB. Authorities were able to compare CCTV footage with the two men's Instagram accounts, according to the arrest papers. According to evidence gathered by the police, the firearms used in this shooting were also allegedly used in a previous shooting in St James Parish. The arrests, according to the police, came after detectives from the BRPD and the St James Parish Sheriff's Department carried out many search warrants on Friday, February 10. According to the authorities, there are still two suspects at large.
