Not A Smooth Criminal: Samsung apps unsafe from a scrolling stutter

Image Source: Samsung US Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘For Galaxy’ chip has worked its magic for Samsung’s latest releases, it seems like the performance of the Galaxy S23 models has taken a hit. With higher clock speeds on the CPU and the GPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 allows the Samsung flagships to run fast and extremely smoothly, along with brilliant battery life. However, the performance of the three Galaxy S23 models isn’t as award-winning as assumed, especially when it comes to some apps. And what makes the matter even worse is that this stutter occurs in some of Samsung’s own apps as well.  And that app happens to be the Galaxy Store. If you scroll up and down in the Galaxy Store app, you will notice a stutter or a low refresh rate that is not found anywhere else on the Galaxy S23 series phone. So the conclusion we can draw from here is that while optimizing the galaxy 23 series, Samsung seems to have missed the Galaxy Store.  [caption id="attachment_125065" align="aligncenter" width="1200"] Image Source: Deccan Herald[/caption] The screen refresh rate on all Galaxy S23 models falls below 60Hz in Samsung’s Galaxy Store. Hence, scrolling through the Galaxy Store seems slower than Samsung’s mid-range models which don’t support a refresh rate above 60Hz. Yes, the situation is indeed that dire. However, it cannot be ascertained whether the stutter originated from an update to the Galaxy Store or via the standard software updates that the Galaxy S23 lineup received. It could be easy to use the slow refresh rate as a justification for completely avoiding the Galaxy Store. The majority of Samsung users choose to ignore the Galaxy Store simply because it is not a great experience and it offers nothing new in particular.  Yet, there is no doubt that a lot of people use the Galaxy Store, and for them, the sluggish scrolling may be quite annoying. Since the Galaxy Store issue is allegedly not unique to the Galaxy S23, the new, specially optimized flagships are a great illustration of the problems that Samsung still needs to resolve.
