Unwanted calls are one of the drawbacks of carrying a phone around with you all the time. You could, of course, just ignore the call, but that's still frustrating. By banning unknown numbers on Android, you can prevent this.
"Unknown" Number: What Is It?
What exactly does it mean to block calls from "unknown" numbers if we're going to show you how to do that? It essentially prevents calls from any number that does not appear on the caller ID.
This does not imply that, unlike the iPhone, calls from numbers that are not in your contacts would be blocked. Unknown numbers are "unknown" because caller ID does not show their number. Calls from unknown numbers that still show up on your caller ID are not blocked.
How to Stop Unknown Calls on a Google Phone?
With the "Blocked Numbers" area of the "Phone by Google" program, you can ban unknown callers. Phone by Google can be used without a Google Pixel phone. The software is accessible to everyone through the Play Store. The software will ask you to make it your default dialer.
You can tap the three-dot menu symbol in the top-right corner of the Phone by Google app to access the menu.
How to Set Up a Samsung Phone to Prevent Unknown Calls?
If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone:
- You can block unknown numbers in the "Block Numbers" section of the default phone app
- Launch the "Phone" app
- Then tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the "Keypad" tab
Now, you're ready to go! Your phone will no longer ring when calls come in from unknown sources. The amount of calls you have to ignore should go down as a result. You may also ban calls and texts on Android if you require a more granular solution:
- Navigate to Settings
- Blocked Numbers
- Unknown in the Google Phone app
