Oppo Find N2 Is the ‘Lightest Horizontally Folding Phone’

With the Mix Fold 2, Xiaomi demonstrated how to create a smaller horizontal folding phone back in August. Now it's Oppo's chance to show how to make them lighter. The new Find N2 weighs as little as 233 grams and has a landscape screen similar to that of its predecessor. That is 42 grams less than before, almost 30 grams less than devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from Samsung, and even a few grams less than an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Oppo asserts that the new product is "the industry's lightest horizontally folding phone" for this reason. Due to their glass backs, the Find N2's green and white models each add 4 grams to their weight, but they are still far lighter than the competition. Oppo's flexible screen is supported by a smaller second-generation flexion hinge and a carbon fiber underframe in place of an aluminum one. The Find N2 can reportedly resist over 400,000 folds under normal circumstances, which is twice as many as the Find N, and over 100,000 folds at 50°C (122°F) or as low as -20°C (-4°F). The phone's 1.2-meter drop test received a green tick from the same company. The battery is around the same capacity as before, increasing slightly to 4,520mAh, but now supports quicker 67W SuperVOOC charging, taking 10 minutes to charge from 0 to 37% or 42 minutes to fully charge. While the 7.1-inch flexible screen on this Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered foldable phone has maintained its 9:8.4 "golden" aspect ratio (1,792 x 1,920), it appears to have a less noticeable crease along with increased visibility. The business is also releasing the Oppo Pen, which supports 4,096 levels of pressure and has an 11-hour battery life, to make the most of this large landscape panel. When you prop up the camera for "FlexForm Capture," you can use the button on the pen as a remote control for the camera. In connection with it, the Find N2 has a new set of cameras that benefited from further assistance from Hasselblad. On the rear, there are three cameras: a 50-megapixel f/1.8 primary camera (equal to 24mm), a 48-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera (equivalent to 14mm), and a 32-megapixel f/2.2 telephoto camera (equivalent to 47mm). A 32-megapixel front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.4 is also hidden in the foldable screen's upper-left corner. The Oppo Find N2 is also capable of recording 4K ultra HDR and nighttime footage thanks to its proprietary MariSilicon X image neural engine. This device's 3.26-inch external display, which is reportedly the "biggest cover screen in any flip," is useful for previewing messages, snapping selfies, and checking calendars. In addition, this smartphone supports 44W fast charging and has the "largest" battery in this form factor (4,300mAh vs. 3,700mAh from Samsung). The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ CPU, according to Chief Product Officer Pete Lau, enables the Find N2 Flip to handle dual SIM dual 5G standby, which is reportedly a first for a compact foldable phone. The 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and 32-megapixel camera are similar to the Find N2. The Find N2 is available in two pricing ranges: the less sophisticated 16GB RAM with 512GB storage version costs 8,999 yuan (about $1,290), while the more powerful 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model costs 7,999 yuan (about $1,150). When it comes to the Find N2 Flip, the 8GB RAM plus 256GB storage option starts at 5,999 yuan ($860), and the 16GB RAM plus 512GB storage model tops out at 6,999 yuan ($1,000). Prior to the Find N2's launch on December 23 and the Find N2 Flip's launch on December 30, both phones are currently up for pre-order in China. Additionally, representatives from Oppo confirmed to Engadget that the Flip will go on sale in foreign regions, however they are still debating whether to do the same with the larger Find N2.
