Part-luxury car, part-pickup truck, the Audi ActiveSphere concept

The fourth and last concept car from Audi, bearing the Sphere brand, has been shown, and the design is completely original. A luxury electric vehicle with a lot of ground clearance and the ability to convert into a pickup truck is called the ActiveSphere. The ActiveSphere, which was developed at the Audi Design Studio in Malibu, California, is roughly 196 inches long, 81 inches wide, and 63 inches tall, or about the same length as the current-generation A6, 7 inches wider, and 6 inches taller. It has a rounded exterior style with tiny headlamps, a transparent trim piece in the grille's place, and a fastback-like profile. Audi created a two-piece entrance for the ActiveSphere that consists of a tailgate that pivots down and a glass panel that slides up rather than a hatch or trunk lid. This design gives the idea a tiny cargo box that can hold dirty equipment that you wouldn't want to put in a typical luxury car, like a mountain bike. Incorporated onto the roof is a ski rack as well. The ActiveSphere has a simple interior with a ton of technological features. The concept can drive itself under the right circumstances, tucking the steering wheel, dashboard, and pedals out of sight when they are not in use. There is room for four passengers on individual seats, and the person occupying what we typically call the driver's seat doesn't necessarily have to drive. By fusing virtual material with the actual environment, mixed-reality headsets redefine the phrase "infotainment system." For instance, the technology may project a high-resolution 3D topographical map over the area in front of the automobile when traveling off the established path. The modular PPE architecture that Audi and its sister business Porsche are creating served as the foundation for the ActiveSphere idea. A 100 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack powers two electric motors, one on each axle, which propel the vehicle's four wheels with around 435 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. According to Audi, it takes under 25 minutes to charge the battery pack from 5% to 80% using 800-kilowatt fast-charging technology. The concept's maximum driving distance is estimated to be roughly 375 miles. Audi details PPE platform for electric cars - Autoblog Photo Credit: Autoblog Next, what? Your hunch is just as valid as ours. Before the end of 2023, Audi plans to introduce its first electric vehicle based on PPE, and according to an unconfirmed rumor, the GrandSphere concept car from 2021 will eventually evolve into the next-generation A8. Beyond that, it's still too early to say if the ActiveSphere concept will move from the concept stage to production or not.
