Pink Opened Up About Being A Rock Star Mother

Pink is being open about what it's like to be a rock star mom. She has been working on finding a way to successfully juggle her two loves—family and music—for more than a decade. The "Never Going Not Dance Again" vocalist, who is married to Carey Hart, 47, and is a mother to Jameson, 6, and Willow, 11, said in this week's PEOPLE cover story: "When I had kids, people said, 'Your career's going to be over. How are you going to tour?'" Furthermore, Pink, 43, has repeatedly shown the skeptics wrong and is one of the longest-lasting pop sensations of her generation. And she accomplished it all on her terms. Pink has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, recorded 23 Top 40 songs, won three Grammys, and won an Emmy (taking her halfway to EGOT status). She is adored by outcasts and suburban moms alike. In addition, her most recent tour was the second-highest-grossing tour by a female artist of all time (after only Madonna). When Pink and Hart had children, she experienced a whole new level of delight. "I did not know I was going to have a family. I didn't picture that for myself because I was terrified I would be a terrible mother," Pink claimed. "But, oh my God, being a mom is the most incredible thing I've ever done. It's shocking how responsible I've become." She has transitioned from starting gatherings offstage to supervising them. "I was in charge of snacks for last week's basketball game; I'm chaperoning Willow's dance next Friday. . . . Who am I?" she said and jokingly added, "But I love it." Yet, being a rock star mom has a price. Later this year, one of Willow's theatre productions will conflict with Pink's tour dates. However, Pink is content to live the best of both worlds, or at least tries to, despite the sacrifices "I want to be the best I can be at everything, and it's never good enough; it's f---ing impossible," she remarked. "But I love being a mom, I love music, and I'm dumb lucky I get to do all of these things. I count my blessings every single day."
