He stated that post-processing was probably the root of the problem. Smartphone manufacturers must employ software to modify photographs to increase their quality due to smaller camera sensors than those found in DSLR cameras.
This entails lowering background noise, modifying the white balance, and boosting brightness. While this aids in creating photographs of higher quality, excessive post-processing might result in unnatural-looking outcomes.

In terms of post-processing, the Google Pixel 6a triumphs over the iPhone
The Google Pixel 6a surprised everyone by winning the camera test, showing that Google Pixel devices handled this post-processing better than the iPhone. The Apple Smart HDR feature, which combines numerous photographs taken in various lighting settings, is now believed to make the problem worse.
Due to Apple's extensive post-processing, photos are too sharpened, faces in selfies appear unnaturally white, and shadows appear too light. Furthermore, this has been noted by developers.

Sebastiaan De-With, the creator of the well-known camera programme Halide, pointed out a number of problems with Smart HDR in his evaluation of the iPhone 14 Pro. Despite having excellent camera technology, Apple's post-processing capabilities are lacking.
