Porsche's buttons are back as we view the interior of the 2024 Cayenne

Using them can be distracting, especially when they are for frequently used items like the climate controls in a car. The interior of Porsche's upcoming Cayenne SUV has been revealed, and it appears that buttons are once again on the menu in Stuttgart, so consider this a happy story. At least some. The single flaw with Porsche's otherwise outstanding Taycan was arguably an interface that was virtually entirely touchscreen. In fact, it was noticeable that the temperature control touchscreen was gone and was replaced with actual buttons to make it hotter or colder and more or less windy when Audi used that car's chassis to construct its own electric express, the e-tron GT. A touchscreen is not required to control the air vents in an e-tron GT, in contrast to a Taycan. 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S - Interior and Exterior - YouTube Photo Credit: YouTube Because the updated Cayenne cabin features numerous Taycan-like features, it is good to see that Porsche's design staff is paying attention to customer comments. (The screen's anti-glare coating ensures that it is always readable, even when wearing sunglasses on a sunny day.) However, the center console has physical switches to regulate the temperature and ventilation, and the air vents must once more be manually targeted.

Ivo van Hulten, director of user experience design at Porsche, notes:

"Thus, there are two things that are crucial to us. In order to provide you this brand identity, for instance, we start by looking at things from our background that were analog. The drive mode switch, for instance, is a good illustration there. " "We chose the name "driver experience" because we are a sports vehicle brand with a strong sports car pedigree. Since the driver is unquestionably the most crucial individual in the vehicle, according to [Porsche], "He stated. "There are other areas as well where we regularly receive customer comments. As a result, we gain knowledge from how users interact with our systems. If you like, you can grant Porsche access to your data by ticking [a box]" "Yet, we also conduct in-depth research with our clients. We conduct many of those sessions across all markets, including the US. Hence, we are aware that physical climate control measures are crucial in the US as well. 2024 Porsche Cayenne Teased, Hints At Significant Updates | Carscoops Photo Credit: Carscoops "With the Taycan, which was the first full-battery vehicle we ever made, I believe it was crucial for us to sort of break free from the past and demonstrate our ability as designers. Nevertheless, perhaps because it was so computerized, we realized that this version of Cayenne needed a little more analog character" explained van Hulten. Porsche hasn't revealed any information regarding the Taycan's midlife upgrade yet, but we will be venturing a guess and say that when the Porsche EV gets a facelift in a year or two, it might also have joined the Campaign to Bring Back Buttons.
