A Purdue University professor was arrested on accusations of drug use and allegedly propositioning women. According to Indianapolis news station Fox 59, Sergey Macheret, 65, was detained on Wednesday following a weeks-long investigation by the Lafayette Police Department into several reports of a "suspicious male approaching women." According to the site, the department's probe, which started in December, brought them to Macheret. Additionally, the reports stated that a plainclothes officer was able to obtain information that led to a traffic stop and, ultimately, his arrest. However, the police did not divulge the specifics of the information they had. Furthermore, according to Fox 59, Macheret will be charged with making an illegal proposition, dealing methamphetamine, and possessing meth. On another note, it's unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak for him in this regard. According to the Lafayette Police Department and local news outlets in Indianapolis, Macheret was later released after posting a bond. In addition, his initial booking was at the Tippecanoe County Jail, according to sources.
