Qualcomm announced two chips, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, with AI amplification and 5G supporting hardware. Snapdragon 6 Gen1 is the most powerful chip out of the two. You can click pictures at 200 megapixels along with HDR video, and it comes with built-in AI assistance. Based on your activity, it suggests settings and apps. According to Qualcomm, the system on chip's central processing unit's performance is 40% better than last year's 695 Snapdragon, and the GPU is 35% optimized. However, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 promises more days of battery life along with hardware support for AI voice assistance with the potential to take 108-megapixel pictures. But the Snapdragon 4 is not too focused on gaming. Horsepower upgrade is not offering much more than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 480 Plus. However, the GPU performance is 10% more, and the CPU comes with a 15 percent boost. Even though Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 can connect to 5G, only the former chipset can tap into mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G and click fast. The chipset 4 has only sub-6Ghz. The 4 Gen 1 chipset has the old WiFi5, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 can use the improvised WiFi 6 E standard. Qualcomm released its midrange chipsets a year ago before remodeling its naming scheme. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 will be launched by this year's end, and the Snapdragon 6 Gen1 at the beginning of 2023. However, the Tensor chip inside Pixel 6A by Google is tough competition for both the 4 and 6 chipsets of Qualcomm, and also, the Pixel 7 is due to be launched in October. Therefore, it is unknown which devices will use the chipset, and we will probably not be seeing them till next year. In the best phones list below $500, only four Android phones use Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, the OnePlus Nord N20 5G. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G uses its own Exynos chipset, and the Moto G Stylus and Galaxy A13 5G have hardware from Mediatek taking up Qualcomm's market share. Courtesy: The Verge
