The GPUs in the RX 7900 XT/XTX wasn't as effective as AMD had claimed, according to launch reviews. This discrepancy between advertised and measured performance led to the theory that the Navi 31 GPU may have faults. Later rumors claimed that an updated Navi 31 might be under development. Also called RDNA 3+, reports now claim that the possible RDNA 3 refresh has been canceled. AMD may be developing a new Navi 31 GPU with 3 GH+ clock speeds, according to a November 2022 report from our team. According to reports, the Radeon RX 7990 XTX, RX 7950 XTX, and RX 7950 XT boards all included the GPU. The RDNA 3+ was one name given to this potential refresh. The RDNA 3+ has reportedly been discontinued, according to hardware leaker @All The Watts. Strangely, some of Paul's sources insist that the RDNA 3 refresh is still in progress even if it will be some time before the boards are made public. The midrange Navi 33 and Navi 32 also don't seem to be impacted by the incoming cards. Last but not least, Paul makes the argument that AMD may have abandoned the RDNA 3 refresh due to a shortage of engineering resources. According to reports, the corporation has decided to invest resources in other projects including the RDNA 4 graphics architecture and Phoenix Point APUs, which are both described as a "monumental effort." Therefore, it is too early to make a firm prediction regarding what would happen to the allegedly updated RDNA 3 GPUs. Therefore, it will take some time to determine whether AMD has genuinely decided to discontinue RDNA 3+ cards.
