There have been rumors that Samsung will release its newest foldable devices sooner than usual. According to certain sources, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be unveiled by the South Korean company as early as the last week of July 2023. And it appears that will be the case because a different report made a similar allegation.
TheElec said that Samsung is considering holding an early launch event to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. It’s possible that the smartphones will be launched 1-2 weeks before their predecessors. So, in July 2023, we can anticipate learning official details about the two upcoming foldable Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung intends to release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 sooner than expected to improve its Q3 2023 financial performance.
Since 2023 is a particularly difficult year for all consumer electronics companies, it appears that the company is trying to improve its Q3 2023 results. In Q1 2023, Samsung’s profits already fell by 95% as its semiconductor chip unit posted its first loss in 14 years. Therefore, if sales of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 begin in late July or early August, the company will be able to deliver strong results in the third quarter.
Samsung reportedly placed early orders for parts for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. These are the components that have undergone considerable alteration, such as the waterdrop-shaped hinge that strengthens the phone and hides the screen crease. Other components, however, are being produced according to the company’s regular schedule.

The rumor further states that Samsung would equip both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with panels made of the same M12 OLED technology. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 both make use of the same material. If this information is accurate, Samsung’s future smartphones won’t likely have considerably brighter screens.
