The Galaxy S23 series has been available for around three months, and during sale and promotional seasons, carriers, retailers, or Samsung frequently highlight them.
Let’s examine the two phones in depth—the standard Galaxy S23 and the huge, powerful Galaxy S23 Ultra—to find where they overlap and where they diverge.
Galaxy S23 vs Galaxy S23 Ultra : A Brief Comparison
- Ultra has an upgraded camera system
- Ultra has an S Pen stylus
- Galaxy S23 is more compact
- Flat screen on Galaxy S23, slight curves on the Ultra’s edges
- Definite difference in battery sizes
- More storage and RAM on the Ultra
Performance and software
Samsung has combined its flagship devices with a single processor inside the Galaxy S23 series. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy is a unique edition that Samsung produces in its own factories, however the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is good in and of itself. Though “Snapdragon for Galaxy” will be used as often as possible, that is the official branding.
What then is special. For starters, the processor has been upgraded such that the prime core can reach 3.36 GHz. Second, selfie cameras now support the updated “Semantic Segmentation” feature, which allows the processor to more thoroughly analyze a shot scene and the subjects in it.
Design and display
Like its predecessor, the standard Galaxy S23 is a lightweight, portable device. It’s certainly not an iPhone small, but it is “compact” by 2023 standards. It also feels good in one hand. It’s designed to be a phone for people who prefer their cellphone to remain out of the way while not in use, despite its power and camera capabilities.

The Galaxy S23 has a somewhat different design than the S22; it has a flatter frame and a redesigned camera module that is no longer a slab on the phone’s rear. Simple camera lens rings that protrude from the back have taken its place, much like on the Galaxy S22 Ultra (and, as of recently, the S23 Ultra).

Cameras
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the one to have the new 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP2 sensor because it is the “camera phone” that gets everything that Samsung can fit in it. In addition to providing us with access to extremely detailed photographs, the new insane resolution also bins pixels into groups of up to 16 for a… marginally better Night Mode. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, boasts an enhanced optical image stabilization that now covers twice as much jitter distance as before.
