Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 case leak suggests no significant design changes

So perhaps it's not surprise that we anticipate the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 to resemble the company's current folding flagship quite a bit. But a recent leak from the dependable informant Ice Universe demonstrates just how little change to anticipate. The leaker posted what appear to be frames of the current model and the future Z Fold 5 side by side. There seems to be no change at all, besides the torch moving to the right of the camera cutout. The leaker positioned the two frames on top of one another in a subsequent tweet. Ice Universe demonstrated with some red lines that the external screen width of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will also not alter. In contrast to the recently unveiled Google Pixel Fold, which has a more conventional aspect ratio when folded, it will continue to be tall and thin. It's unfortunate because the current thin design does make typing slightly more difficult, and unfolding only to send a quick text feels like an awkward, extra step. Nevertheless, putting aside criticisms of the closed aspect ratio, the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. Given the excellent design of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, there is a compelling case for Samsung to keep making incremental tweaks. As a result of the use of a new teardrop hinge, for instance, we have already heard that the phone would be lighter and thinner this time around. We definitely anticipate the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, which will provide it a much-needed speed bump. According to rumoured benchmarks, even the Galaxy S23 Ultra performs far better, indicating that Samsung has improved the performance of its 'For Galaxy' CPUs. The design of Samsung's foldables may be getting a little monotonous, but there may be some good news in store for you come next year. One leaker predicts a "major form factor change" for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
