Thanks to the projector, users can lie down and play video games while the screen is projected onto the ceiling above them. This Freestyle projector's successor, which was unveiled at CES 2022, is portable and adaptable due to its tiny size and lightweight.

Visuals, Size, and Audio

Like its predecessor, the newer Samsung The Freestyle Gen 2 can project images in FHD 1080p (1080 x 1920 pixels) with a refresh rate of 60Hz, high brightness of 230 ANSI Lumen, and a throw distance of up to 2654mm, which is the same as a 100-inch screen. It also has auto keystone, leveling, focus, and scaling features, and a 5W 360-degree speaker with dual audio support (when linked to a compatible device or even a second unit). Gaming Hub Feature

In the same way, most of the software-based functions from last year's model are still there. These features include a Smart TV interface driven by Tizen and pre-installed streaming apps like Netflix and others. But the Gen 2 has a new feature called "Gaming Hub," which is built in and works with a number of cloud gaming services like NVIDIA GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass, Amazon Luna, and others.

Streaming Apps

The Freestyle Gen 2 projector not only lets you play games but also lets you use famous streaming apps like Hulu and Disney+. It comes with Samsung TV Plus, an ad-supported TV service with many free streaming stations.

Other Features

You need a stable Wi-Fi connection to use the game features, which could be hard in some situations, like using it in a tent. Still, it is easy to carry around because it weighs less than two pounds and can be charged by a portable battery with a USB-C port. For Apple users, it is also compatible with Apple AirPlay 2. Surprisingly, the price of the new Samsung Freestyle Gen 2 is US$799 (RM3,708), which is a hundred dollars less than its predecessor. But, like the model from last year, most people would agree that it is still quite expensive for an FHD projector. The new model can now be pre-ordered for the US market and will start shipping on August 30, 2023. There's still no word on when it will be released in Malaysia.
