Samsung’s next Z Flip 5 will sport a 3.4-inch cover screen with a resolution of 720 x 748, according to the reports, an unknown Twitter account with a solid track record of disclosing information about unreleased smartphones.
The 3.4-inch secondary display has been anticipated by Ice before, but this is the first time we’ve seen a particular resolution specified. It’s a significant improvement over the Z Flip 4’s 1.9-inch, 260 x 512 cover display.
The information was revealed just a few days after MediaPeanut and OnLeaks published a number of unofficial renderings of the impending device based on stolen specifications and claimed it will have a 3.4-inch cover display.
OnLeaks anticipates that the internal display will continue to be 6.7 inches in size. Ross Young, a supply chain analyst, stated in late 2017 that the Z Flip 5 would feature a secondary display larger than 3 inches.
For foldable flip phones, cover display size appears to be the next major battleground. For at least one of its future Razr models, which is expected to have a 3.5-inch cover display (up from the previous Razr’s 2.7-inch screen with 573 x 800 resolution), Samsung’s rival Motorola is apparently contemplating a comparable increase. Oppo’s most current Find N2 Flip boasts a 3.26-inch cover display with a 382 x 720 resolution.
Trying to directly compare these sizes can be a little misleading because many of these cover displays have drastically different aspect ratios that affect how big they actually seem in usage.
However, the overall trend is toward larger secondary screens, which should theoretically make them useful for more than just quickly checking the time and first line of a notification.

This is true regardless of which display technically has the most pixels. A fascinating point of comparison is the 3.5-inch, 320 x 480 screen size of the first iPhone.
At a gathering in late July, Samsung is anticipated to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 5 along with the most recent model of its full-size foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This larger tablet may be both thinner and lighter than its predecessor, and it is said to have a better hinge design with a less noticeable wrinkle when unfurled.
