See How You Can Stream Games Directly From Your Google Results

Select video games can now be launched immediately from Google Search results for Chrome users in the US, similar to how you can currently do with movies, music, and TV shows. You can play the games on any computer, smartphone, or tablet running Google Chrome because they are cloud streaming services that operate in your browser, like GeForce Now or Microsoft Cloud Streaming. As long as you have a good and reliable internet connection, even inferior devices can play games in this manner—often in 1080p quality and 60 frames per second with little input lag. You're right if you're wondering whether Chrome couldn't already accomplish this. You can play games on phones, smart TVs, and Chrome through Google's Stadia cloud streaming service. Google, however, intends to end Stadia in January 2023. Although comparable to the Stadia service, this new feature is distinct from it, though possibly not from the underlying technology. It's crucial to keep in mind that Stadia is closing down because of its poor financial performance and users' lack of interest, not because the technology wasn't functional. In spite of its unclear monetization plan, Stadia really performed quite well. The new capability is also not unexpected because many other streaming services are compatible with web browsers. In fact, Google hinted to the possibility to launch games through Google search months before it officially announced Stadia's demise. If Stadia hadn't been closing, we can presume it would have been on the list of supported cloud platforms. After shutting down Stadia, Google also stated that it would continue to use the service's streaming technology for platforms like YouTube, Google Play, and Google AR. The company also stated that it would share this technology with other businesses, so I wouldn't be surprised if more Stadia-like features appeared in upcoming Google products. How to use Google Chrome to stream video games?

  • The information panel will mention streaming services where the game is accessible if it is playing.

  • The game should load immediately if you already have an account and are logged in to the streaming service of your choice.

  • If you're playing a game on a mobile device, keep a Bluetooth controller nearby as some games may also demand a gamepad or keyboard and mouse.
