The Busan International Film Festival has chosen Tony Leung Chiu-wai, the Hong Kong actor of "In the Mood for Love" and Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," Asian Filmmaker of the Year. On October 5, 2022, during the festival's opening ceremony, Leung will get his award.
A screening of Hagi Mohaghegh's "Scent of Wind" will kick off the festival. The Iranian director's second film, "Immortal," took first place in the 2015 New Currents competition in Busan.
Ishikawa Kei's "A Man," from Japan, will mark the festival's conclusion. This week, the movie's Orrizonti segment premiered it at the Venice Film Festival.
According to the festival's organisers in Busan, 243 films (including features and shorts) from 71 nations and territories will be screened. 13 international premieres and 89 global debuts are among them.
The festival will go mostly normally after two years of hiccups. This consists of a red carpet opening ceremony, films on 30 screens spread across seven locations, meet-and-greets with celebrities, as well as master courses and exclusive lectures.
“All events and parties, including opening and closing ceremonies, are preparing for normal operations. Invitations to overseas guests, accreditation for festival/market badges, and ticketing will progress as in the pre-pandemic years,” organizers said.
