Snapchat users have shared that the AI chatbot of the messaging app encountered difficulties on Tuesday evening. Specifically, the AI, known as My AI, posted an enigmatic Story on its profile and ceased its usual responsiveness in text conversations, leading to unease among numerous users.

Introduced globally earlier this year, Snapchat’s My AI chatbot is designed to engage with users’ messages in a friendly manner. Its typical functions include offering suggestions for places to visit and Lenses to use, as well as participating in chat interactions related to the Snaps users send.

Regrettably, it temporarily ceased performing these functions, opting instead to respond to all chat messages with an identical default answer: ” “Sorry, I encountered a technical issue ?”

In addition, there are reports that My AI posted a solitary Story on its profile. While Mashable was unable to view this Story, as it has since been removed, videos circulated on social media indicate that it lasted for approximately one second. The Story displayed a flat beige area with a light flat color covering the upper quarter of the screen. This prompted users to speculate that it might have been a depiction of a wall and ceiling.

Upon reaching out for comment, a spokesperson from Snap confirmed that My AI underwent a period of outage, but the issue has since been resolved.
However, the problem wasn’t fully rectified immediately, as My AI briefly continued to respond to certain users’ text messages with: “”Hey, I’m a bit busy at the moment. Can we catch up later?” Nevertheless, other users soon reported the restoration of the My AI chatbot’s online presence, permitting them to inquire about its peculiar Story.
This serves as a cordial reminder that despite the sophistication of artificial intelligence systems, they are not impervious to errors. They remain reliant on software and coding, which means they are susceptible to bugs, imperfections, and constraints. Therefore, it’s advisable not to heavily rely on them for anything of significance.
