Roku is releasing a few new devices in the US soon.
Roku Wireless Bass is one of these new devices. It can be used with existing Roku speakers and costs less than a third of the price of the Sonos Sub Mini. Roku Wireless Bass works with Roku Streambar Pro and Roku Smart Soundbar. It connects via 802.11ac dual-band wi-fi up to 30 feet away and requires only a cable for power.
The ported Roku Wireless Bass is a cuboid-shaped device that measures 35cm high, 17cm wide, and 32cm deep. It houses one 13cm front-firing speaker and claims a frequency response of 50 to 200 Hz.
Pre-orders for the Bass are now possible in the US, ahead of its November 7th launch. It is priced at $130, which is approximately PS113, AU$193, and should appeal to budget-conscious buyers who want to add cinematic weight to their TV sounds. It's significantly cheaper than other subwoofer releases like the Sonos Sub Mini (PS429 / $429) and the Klang Sub1 from Loewe (PS400 / around $464).
You can also purchase the Roku
Wireless Bass as part of a bundle package with Roku Streambar starting at $250 (around PS216 or AU$371) and a $10.
Roku already offers a wireless subwoofer. The Wireless Bass Pro is $50 more expensive and houses a large cabinet with a 25cm driver. It delivers 125 watts of RMS power, compared to the sub's 60.
Roku announced an updated Roku Express, which includes dual-band wi-fi connectivity, an upgraded processor, and more internal storage. The 2022 Roku Express, priced at $30, is now available for pre-order. Shipping will begin on October 13th.
