Starlink's Satellite Internet Will Lower Speed Of Heavy Data Users

SpaceX will soon introduce a new data policy for its satellite internet service, which will slow down the internet speeds of users who use excessive amounts of data. This comes after raising the price of Starlink earlier this year. The Verge stated that starting in December, SpaceX will start slowing down the connections of residential internet users that utilize more than 1 TB of Priority Access bandwidth during peak hours. As a result, you should pay close attention to how much internet you use daily between 7 AM and 11 PM, as per Starlink's Fair Use Policy. Although your connection speed will be decreased, you will still be able to use Starlink and connect to the internet. Customers of Starlink's home internet service that go over their allotted bandwidth can purchase more Priority Access data, but it will cost them 25 cents per GB. A 1 TB data cap will also apply to Premium subscribers, while 5 TB caps will apply to Maritime users. Users of Starlink's more expensive plans will be charged $2 for each additional gigabyte of priority data if they exceed the cap. Internet service providers (ISPs) like Comcast have data restrictions for their home broadband plans, so the practice is not new.
